This one to be exact.

Sure, it has four bedrooms that we're turning into a 3 bedroom with a massive master. Yeah, it has nice items like 42" cabinets, granite counter-tops and hardwood throughout the main level.

The best thing about this house can be described in four simple words.

Tandem. Three. Car. Garage!

Kinja'd!!!

This will give my wife and I room for Her tC, my GTI as well as my '69 Firebird. Additionally, with the four post lift I'm planning to install, we'll have an extra spot when we pull together funds for her fun car (she wants an Austin Healey 3000).

To say I'm excited is an understatement! Unfortunately though there's a lot to do yet. The builder can't break ground until late March which puts our closing date around the end of July or early August. In that time I've got to get my Condo sold, which is going to also mean moving in with my parents for a bit.

Moving twice is going to suck, but that garage! Oh lawd that garage!

By "house" do you mean awesome garage with some living space attached?

Do you have any children? Plan to have any children? My wife and I just got a house. I was strongly opposed to laminite/hardwood floors. We got one with laminate throughout the main floor. We're getting carpet in the living room on Tuesday. Hardwood/laminate is good for a lot of things. Playing with children is not one of them.

The wife and I don't currently have kids and we aren't planning on having children in the future. She's a teacher so she gets her child fill every day.

That's the way I choose to look at it!

I've also got plans for a bar in the basement :)

optional 4th garage! so jelly, I constantly have a project car or two relegated to street and driveway parking, requiring constant shuffling to avoid fines

I hear ya! My condo has a single car garage which is occupied by my Firebird. That means our daily drivers get to sit outside during the year. I don't commute to work, but she does, so it really sucks in the winter.

Why is this only optional?

As soon as we looked at this floor plan I was sold. Fortunately, it also has all the things she wants. Win win!

Alas, it's quite an expensive upgrade and unfortunately will not fit on our lot anyway.

Sweet! I'd kill for a one car garage, living an apartment while trying to figure out where to buy and keep a project car sucks haha

I am paranoid about theft of my toy (civic), so it gets to stay in teh garage at night, so I take it out and drag something in when I work on it.

Super jelly of the tandem!

Why have hardwood if you're going to cover it with a rug? While a rug is about half the cost of carpet it also still isn't nearly as soft.

OH MAN that's so awesome.

Not planning on stalking, but who's the builder? I don't need the city/development, just who builds this plan. Then I can see if they build in my area! We're considering options for our next house right now, I'd love a tandem garage like that!

Building a house? Watch this first (start at 12:58—YouTube didn't take the time stamp). It's a scene from The Phantom of the Open Hearth , a film by Jean Shepherd, the man who wrote A Christmas Story . It's about Shepherd's growing up in Gary, IN. In this scene, one of the men has bought a prefab house from Sears, and it's been delivered in box cars. Shepherd's dad and his buddies go down to the train yard to help unpack it. And drink.

It's been many years since I've seen this whole film. I need to watch the whole thing again some time. The leg lamp makes its first appearance in this movie.

The builder is Baessler Homes out of Northern Colorado. I'm not possitive they build anywhere else. You can see what they offer and how they do things on their site. www.baesslerhomes.com

Looks fairly similar to the layout of my house, but mine is wider than deep. I wish I would have had them build more garage space. I came in after it was complete, and the builder talked me out of adding or changing the design. There is plenty of room for an additional 2 car garage at the side of the house... which of course I would love to have.

Now I am trying to decide if I want to keep the house and add on or just finish the landscaping and then sell it and build from scratch farther from town... I hate living near people.

DAMMIT! So jealous of the tandem 3 car garage. I wish my house had that option.

Are you opting for the 4th garage as well?

Kinja'd!!! jlmounce > CAR_IS_MI
01/24/2014 at 11:10

Kinja'd!!!1

No, the house wouldn't fit on our lot with the 4th car option. I also don't have any need for it. If we end up picking up an Austin for my wife, I'll just store the bird and her car using a 4 post lift. The ceilings in the garage are about 15 feet, so there's plenty of room.

Congratulations on the house! I see from the rendering that you plan to do some open-diff burnouts in the driveway. I heartily approve! Are those lightning rods on the roof?

I would have loved to do this, but for some reason lot prices never really went down around here, having already been snatched up by builders prior to the crash.

Also, we wanted in a house faster than it would have taken to build one. I'm jealous, I have to say.
